POWER BLEACHING
IN-OFFICE LASER BLEACHING GEL

Using the QUASARBRITE Laser Whitening Gel, this is an in-office chairside bleaching system that utilizes a unique mix of Thermal Absorption Crystals integrated into a gel of highly processed Fumed Silica and 35% Hydrogen Peroxide.

This translucent, semi-viscous bleaching gel is applied to the teeth and a high intensity light source (plasma arc light) is used to activate the Crystals to absorb the thermal energy from the light and allowing better disassociation of the oxygen to better penetrate the enamel matrix and increase the lightening effect on the teeth.

Professional In-Office Power Bleaching Techniques

Traditional home bleaching techniques can take up to two weeks, whereas the new in-office Power Bleaching uses a newer technique that can achieve similar results within as little as one hour. In cases of darker staining, it may require two to three in-office sessions, and may even be used in conjunction with the home bleaching technique using the custom trays. Besides the obvious advantage of fewer visits and quicker results, the power bleaching utilizes a higher concentration of hydrogen peroxide gel (30-35%) with photo initiators that speed up the process of whitening when put under a high energy light (either a laser or a plasma arc light). The hydrogen peroxide creates an oxygenation process on the tooth surface that acts to break the bonds of staining molecules in the tooth structure. When combined with the application of the light source, the process of tooth lightening is accelerated.
How much does it cost?
Depending upon the number of teeth, the degree of difficulty, the number of visits and whether your dentist will use this in conjunction with the home bleaching trays will affect the price. This bleaching procedure is the most demanding of the dentist's personal time, and it not only requires a special light, but also a special bleaching solution to create the results. Typically, the fee for this procedure can range anywhere from $500 to $1250 depending upon where you live, what procedure is used, and the difficulty of the procedure. (Most insurance companies generally will not cover cosmetic services.)
Is it safe?
Lasers have been used in Dentistry for a number of years. Laser whitening was approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) in March of 1996. The hydrogen peroxide used for the bleaching process has been used in dentistry for over 100 years. Hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide are safe for the teeth and gums when used under the supervision of a dentist. Lasers and plasma arc lights emit no harmful radiation. There is no damage to the teeth and it is only those molecules and debris that discolor the teeth that are effected.
